This is just too funny to watch.

Whether you’re a dog person or a cat person, it’s hard to deny that there are cute animals on either side of the fence.

One curious kitty has the internet chuckling over what she discovered one day while looking in the mirror – or really, how she reacted to the discovery. Even a popular TV host picked up on the clip because it’s so darn adorable (and funny)!

Mimo is a Scottish Straight that lives with her family in Brooklyn, New York. She’s no ordinary cat though – as she has her own Instagram page that’s followed by more than 7.4K humans.

While Mimo’s grown up being in front of the camera, it doesn’t mean she’s caught up in her looks. This can be seen in the hilarious clip that’s gone viral when the kitty catches a glimpse of her own reflection in the mirror. Actually, you might even be able to relate to it!

The Brooklyn pet owner turned on the camera when Mimo was hanging out at the edge of the bed.

There’s a large bedroom mirror hanging above the dresser, which catches the cat’s eye. Although Mimo can’t see her entire reflection – she does seem to notice two pointy things…

Wait…what the heck are those?

Mimo then hops up on her hind legs to get a closer look. It appears that she can finally see her reflection in the mirror, but is confused by two things…her ears.

I’ve got to investigate this.

Mimo starts repeatedly stroking her ear with her paw (while watching herself) as if trying to put it all together. She looks like a person trying to fix themselves in the mirror and it’s hysterical to watch!

Seriously, what are these things?

One viewer had another thought of what appears to be going on. It’s like the perfect plot for a Hollywood movie!

They wrote:

“I’m convinced that a human magically got placed into a cat’s body and is now on an adventure to figure out how to return to his/her original body. Meanwhile a human somewhere is randomly pushing everything off of desks.”

At one point, the cat looks back and has a funny look on her face.

Perhaps she’s thinking, did you really just get a video of that? Oh crap.

Fortunately for us, Mimo’s owner decided to share the video on social media, which had the following caption:

“Ugh, why didn’t you tell me my ears were sticking up like that 🙄 I cant believe you let me walk around like this all day 🙄 Stupid human 🐱 #kittensofinstagram”

After the video went viral, even Ellen DeGeneres picked up on it and shared the clip during Cat Week. She too thought that perhaps Mimo was a human that got stuck in a cat’s body, and was trying to figure out what happened!

Only some animals are believed to have “mirror self-awareness.” According to Popular Science, a scientific experiment was developed in 1970 called the “mirror self-awareness test” (or MSR test). It’s where a colored mark was placed on an animal to see if they would try and touch the area when looking at their reflection (meaning they had “mirror self-awareness”).

The MSR has resulted in a shortlist of animals passing such as great apes, magpies, bottlenose dolphins, the Asian elephant, and orcas. Cats aren’t on the list though.

Mimo’s owner hilariously created a meme on the topic, which she also shared on Instagram.

Sure, we might not know exactly what Mimo was thinking – but it’s still too darn cute. Watch the video below to see her funny moment in front of the mirror for yourself!
