Moving into a new home is exciting.
It’s a brand-new space that will become yours— free for you to decorate and organize as you wish. Still, despite the excitement, moving isn’t all fun and games. Aside from the hard work that goes into moving your things, becoming accustomed to your new domain often takes time. You’re not used to the home’s layout or the noises that go bump in the night. There’s a lot of changes to contend with— but the most bizarre for Rosie was the petals.
Rosie had recently moved onto a street of terraced homes.
A garden path lay behind the row of houses, creating a convenient way to admire the floral displays.
But ever since Rosie moved in, she had been finding weird piles of rose petals on her porch.
The whole thing was bizarre. She’d sweep them up one day, only to wake up and find another batch waiting to greet her. She wasn’t close enough to the gardens for the wind to be carrying them all over, but it was the only explanation she could think of— and so, she just accepted it.
She never imagined the petals were a gift from a secret admirer— until she caught the culprit in the act!
One night, as she was making supper, Rosie noticed a cat jump down to the porch, carrying a flower in its mouth.
“I was so excited that I went to film it because she’s so cute, and I’d never seen a cat ever bring back anything but dead animals before,” Rosie gushed to Happiest.net.
Turns out the mysterious rose petals were actually tokens of affection from the neighbor’s cat, Willow.
Rosie and Willow met each other when Rosie came home to find the cat sleeping in the hallway of her new house. It seems Willow may have been friends with the previous owner because she considers the space her own. She often visits Rosie, meowing at the glass patio doors until she’s let in for a nap.
Now, the cat also seemed to be leaving little gifts.
“She clearly likes us because she steals flowers from [her owners] and leaves them on our deck,” said Rosie.
“It was at least ten flowers before we realized it was her.”
Rosie also learned that Willow is quite the social butterfly, visiting other neighbors during the day too!
Some of the neighbors have cardboard “cat boxes” for her to sleep in. Others leave out bowls of food and water.
“Willow rules over about six of the gardens,” said Rosie.
“I’m pretty sure she gets fed by everyone because she’s very difficult to say no to.”
So there you have it. The mystery of the rose petals was all just an act of affection from one super social cat. Willow clearly loves her new neighbor and isn’t afraid to repay the woman’s kindness with a few gifts of her own. Since Rosie moved in, Willow’s secured a place in the woman’s heart— as well as her home.
Since being uploaded, the footage of Willow has been viewed thousands of times.
“That is the sweetest thing ever! And Willow is just beautiful!”
“This cat is more romantic than 95% of the people I know.”
“I was never fond of cats, but this cat is a good reason why I should be.”
