It would be amazing if more businesses did this!

Brazil is often depicted as a bright, sunny place perfect for travels and vacationers. What is not often discussed is winter in the country. It’s not exactly a freezing winter wonderland but it still gets pretty cold.

The winter season comes June 21st in Brazil. Now people are able to adapt and survive but our furry friends aren’t as privileged.

With the winter season slowly approaching, employees at Barreirinha bus terminal in Curitiba came together and decided to help stray dogs so they wouldn’t freeze to death in the streets.

The pups named Zoinho, Pitoco, and Max were taken in and cared for. The station’s staff provided the dogs with food and water. They even built makeshift beds using old tires and comfortable blankets so the pups could really enjoy their stay.

Zoinho, Pitoco, and Max were kept warm, cozy, and well fed.

No one knows if the dogs were abandoned or strays. But unlike us, homeless dogs are left to try and survive in the streets. They will live on scraps but the risks of them getting run over or abused are very real.

A local politician and animal lover, Fabiane Rosa, took notice of the bus station’s kind gesture towards Max, Pitoco, and Zoinho. Rosa wrote on Facebook with her post going viral, commending the staff who unselfishly took the time to make the winter season more bearable for the animals.

The post is no longer available but Rosa made her way to the station and took some photos before saying,

“Congratulations to the terminal staff, everyone understands that these angels are there and have a right to be. So many companies in Curitiba could follow this example, adopting a pet. Of course it is not the ideal, but at least there are those who are looking after them,” Rosa wrote on Facebook.

Those rubber tires look really comfortable when draped with blankets!

Max, Pitoco, and Zoinho have since become famous. But the dogs don’t care. They still return to the station to sleep and get the attention they need. Let’s also hope that kind souls took them into their homes.

Having fur does not mean that cats and dogs are more able to deal with cold weather. They’re not super resistant to freezing temperatures. Frostbite and hypothermia are very real threats to animals so they should be kept inside.

Huskies and other dogs with longer hair and thick coats are bred for colder climates. They are more tolerant of cold weather but that doesn’t mean they can be left alone outside in freezing temperatures.

In the case of Max, Pitoco, and Zoinho who are smaller in size, they definitely needed the shelter in that station.

Stories like these only serve to show us what we as humans are capable of doing when we choose goodness. Every living being on this planet deserves to be kept warm and fed well.
