Meet Sir Darius Brown: an enterprising 12-year-old boy who’s already the CEO of his own company! This incredible company makes stylish bowties for both people and animals.
When Darius was two years old, the little boy was diagnosed with speech, comprehension, and fine motor skills delay. Still, Darius didn’t let this stop him from dreaming big. When he was eight, his mother came up with a great idea. She had Darius start making bowties with his sisters to help improve his fine motor skills.
Darius absolutely loved sewing, and soon, he started spending most of his free-time making bowties!
In 2017, Darius learned about all the dogs and cats who had lost their homes during Hurricanes Irma and Harvey. Darius wanted to do something to help these animals, and so, he decided to make bowties for them. He named his new company Beaux & Paws.
“Learning that some rescue dogs were being transferred from the devastation in Texas and Puerto Rico to the ASPCA in NYC as well as other shelters, Sir Darius decided to donate bow ties to these displaced dogs to help them look attractive and fashionable in hopes of getting adopted faster and finding their new FUR-ever homes,” Darius’s sister wrote on GoFundMe.
Darius’s company quickly grew—everyone loved his mission and his passion! Darius started donating more and more bowties to shelters around the United States.
Darius’s story also started gaining more and more media attention. Darius has been featured on a wide variety of talk shows and news programs, including the Rachael Ray Show, Pix News 11, and the NY Post. In an interview with Pix News 11, Darius talked about the impact of his bowties.
“As soon as I give them a bow tie, boom! Adopted,” he said.
Darius’s company also attracted lots of celebrities’ attention. Darius even received a letter from former president Obama thanking him for helping so many animals! Darius was thrilled when he got this letter in the mail.
Now, Darius’s company is about two years old. Darius is still hard at work making bowties for deserving dogs and cats and their people.
Darius has also received lots of awards for his philanthropical efforts. This includes the Leadership Award from Leaders of the Future No Limits, the Outstanding Achievement Award from the WDIB Conference, and the Youth Changer Award from “Excel Honors.”
Darius has also traveled around to different shelters throughout the country, delivering his bowties. He loves seeing how happy the bowties make the shelter dogs and cats.
At just 12 years old, Darius has done some incredible things with his business. If you want to learn more about Darius or see more photos of his bowties, check out his Instagram page.
