For some people, it’s never a bad time to sit back and enjoy a good horror movie. But for anyone like the dog in this video, it’s never a great time for spooky time.
This summer, on an ordinary day
The video focuses completely on a boxer dog sitting on a soft comfy looking couch. The room is well lit so you can see the rapt attention the dog is giving to an off-screen camera. For all intents and purposes, it’s just another relaxed day for the dog and his owner.
But then you notice music playing from an off-camera tv screen. You may not recognize the song by name, but it has a slow creepy building up quality to it that clues you in. The dog and his owner are watching a scary movie and they are at a part where the scary stuff happens.
One two, It comes for you.
Pay attention to the dog and see how closely it watches the screen. Notice how the dog leans forward when the music builds and leans back when things are more relaxed. It’s almost like you were watching a horror movie fan follow the heroes as they explore some dark creepy basement.
The dog’s attention is captured by the film. He never misses any of the on-screen action. It’s almost as if every waking moment were spent fearing for the heroes life. You can almost hear the dog’s heart racing as he he wonders if the characters will escape the monster’s nefarious trap.
Three, four, it’s at the door
You can tell when the off-screen movie reaches a high point as you listen to the music. Even without seeing the movie, you can picture the hero of the story moving through darkness unaware that a looming threat hovers just over their shoulder. We don’t blame you if you hold your breath and brace for a scream, since it looks like the dog was doing just that.
As the music reaches its loudest point, you can feel the dog’s tension. He leans back with an expression that reminds viewers of gasps and concerned pleas for the hero to be careful. It’s almost certain that the monster or killer in the movie is choosing that moment to strike.
No no, don’t do that
But the tense scene is entirely too much for the dog as he looks away and lays his head down. He just buries his head on the couch and turns his attention towards his owner recording the entire scene. The expression he gives almost seems like it’s asking the owner to tell him when it’s over.
We never see if the dog goes back to watching the movie since the video cuts out at that point. Maybe the dog goes back to watching the movie only to look away at all of the scary parts. Maybe the dog has just fully checked out and sits and watches his owner until the movie finally ends.
Post credits scene
The most fun of watching this scene is reading the comments from viewers. Many point out how familiar the dog’s reactions are, with many joking about what the dog would say if he could talk. Many of these comments are well liked because of how realistic they are to actual horror movie fans’.
