You may have seen the grumpy cat meme circulating online but there’s another feline that redefines grumpy with its irate expression.

Let’s backtrack a bit on grumpy cat, an internet sensation with an adorably grouchy-looking face that sums up our general mood.

Grumpy cat’s facial expression coupled with short, relatable content has resonated with so many internet users around the globe that the memes took over Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and Instagram almost instantly.

Sadly, the internet’s favorite grouch passed away at seven years old because of a urinary tract infection but you can bet the memes are still around and as popular as ever.

And now, we have Pearl.

Pearl the cat has an important job of guarding a watermelon farm in Thailand. He’s been doing it for about six years now and boy, is he good at it.

No one would dare cross a cat with such a penetrating gaze.

This cute furball has quite a glare. While it’s amusing to see a cat with a cross, no-nonsense look to it, the owner says Pearl the cat is actually a real sweetheart.

It’s no extraordinary sight for pets to help their owners man stalls and look after produce but it is a bit uncommon for the pet to be looking so stern!

Pearl definitely knows how to get customers to act right.

He’s a diligent worker who doesn’t care at all how intimidating he looks. The important thing is he helps his owner by guarding watermelons, making sure the scales reflect the right numbers, and that no customers try any funny business.

What makes Pearl’s facial expression even more comical is the fact that he’s basically living the life.

Definitely no reason to be grumpy!

When he’s not busy working, Pearl has all the time to sit back and enjoy the royal treatment at home. Notice how he looks a bit more relaxed? You’re a funny guy, Pearl.

Always looking disgruntled, and spoiled. You sure have the makings of a tyrant, Pearl!

You’re probably wondering what it is about cats and their many facial expressions that leave internet users gushing. Well, that’s probably because the looks on their faces are pretty relatable for us humans. Digital strategy director Sam Ford suggests,

“Juxtaposing surprising meanings over cat images, a la the LOLcats phenomenon, allows us projecting our thoughts onto the mysterious countenance of felines.”

That helps explain our love for Grumpy Cat and Pearl: we get it. We totally get it. And thanks to them, we don’t need to use words to express how we feel. All we need are their super cute snapshots to sum up our moods and everyone else will catch on quickly.

Pearl’s owner is incredibly lucky to have such a sweet, grumpy-looking assistant.

Imagine feeling all sorts of tired from a hard day’s work and having a fluffy grouch to snuggle with when you get home.

One can only wish all store helpers could be this cute!
