It’s almost safe to say that in every country, there are countless stray cats and dogs. These poor animals fight to survive, look for scraps of food, squeeze themselves into hopeless places they consider home, and endure attacks from other animals and severe weather.

They definitely deserve better and it’s our responsibility to give them nothing but the best in their short lives.

Thankfully, kindhearted people are everywhere.

In Russia, a poor pup covered in dirt was saved by a rescuer named Alina. She found him on a roadside surrounded by muddy puddles and all sorts of trash. It’s an unimaginable place for such a gentle and helpless little boy.

Not too far from where the pup was found was a cardboard box with a towel in it, he was most likely dumped there by his previous owner. There’s no telling how long the dog has been there, but there’s one thing we could all be certain about, the pup was not in good shape.

Just how cruel it is to abandon a dog in a place where it has literally nothing? No food. No roof to protect its head through the day and night. No guarantee of being safe from all the cars passing by and bigger animals who might see him as sumptuous prey.

Needless to say, the rescued pup was in pain.

Dogs surely can’t talk, but looking at the little baby’s face, you can already tell he’s enduring some kind of pain somewhere. His rescuer wasted no second and immediately rushed him to a veterinary clinic for a general checkup.

There, the poor puppy was literally crying. Whether those were tears of joy or tears of pain, the bare sight of him in tears was downright heartbreaking. It’s exactly how the pup’s rescuer described it, “His eyes were filled with pain and melancholy.”

They found ticks all over the puppy’s body so they decided to cut his fur and when they did, they were utterly shocked when they saw the countless wounds around his young skinny body. By the looks of the wounds, he was most likely attacked by larger animals.

They also discovered that he caught leptospirosis.

It is a bacterial infection and could be life-threatening if not immediately treated. Thankfully, it is curable; however, the bacteria’s mortality rate is still high considering his age. He needed to stay there to recover fully. They had to make sure it’d be all safe for him and that no complications would appear moving forward.

Fortunately, Alina was there at the right place and at the right time. She was also there during the recovery phase of the puppy whom they named Ferdo. She would usually bring him mouth-watering meals and talk to him since he was mostly alone inside his kennel while healing up.

Ferdo underwent therapies and took his medicines regularly for his fast recovery. After 2 months of treatment, he was finally out of his cage.

He also had his vaccine and re-examination. Thankfully, he was soon given the clean bill of health and was then taken home. Because of Alina’s undying patience and genuine care, the pup eventually started to give in to her kindness. He began trusting her more.

Everything went well for Ferdo starting from that fateful day when Alina found him. He is now enjoying the comfort of a true home together with his new forever humans who promised not to dump him again – never again.

They will surely create new and happy memories together.
